Movers & Shakers

In January 2005, David Jones CBE , President of Paul Nixon's Benefit Committee, co-founded The Cure Parkinson's Trust Supported by Movers & Shakers with four fellow Movers and Shakers, who are fighting their Parkinson's both for themselves and everyone touched by the condition.

The Cure Parkinson's Trust aims to raise £2.5 million over five years for research into finding a cure for Parkinson's disease, a degenerative neurological conditional that progressively and restrictively affects a person's movement. Parkinson's disease can affect anyone, at any age. David was diagnosed at the age of 39, and fellow co-founder of the Trust, Tom Isaacs, was diagnosed at the age of 27.

The Cure Parkinson's Trust believes that an effective antidote to curb the progression of the illness will be available within five years. An outright cure may be further away, but the Trust aims to act as a catalyst to drive towards a cure for this disabling condition, which affects 7 million people in the UK either directly or indirectly. There is genuine hope for a cure for this disease.

Movers & Shakers is delighted to be involved in the activities for Paul Nixon throughout this memorable year
